I would think this made a difference why you wouldn't come home for dinner much:

Thanks, that is what I am doing too. Luckily my dd has other options also not to be home all alone everyday.

Oh my goodness. She says that she often had dinner at her friends' house when she was little AND THAT THEY OFTEN HAD DINNER AT HERS, and you somehow connect that to her having an alcoholic father? Or did you only read the first part?

I had an alcoholic father.
I had friends over all the time.
I had dinner at my friends' houses when I was invited.
My social life was not particularly affected by my father's alcoholism.

You. You went on about how you had to clean up after your daughter because she either would not or could not put her own clothing away.

I'm still wondering how you managed to leap from "I often had dinner at my friends homes and they had dinner at mine" to "you probably didn't come home for dinner much because your father was an alcoholic" and miss the part about her friends coming to her home, too.

If your children ever have sleepovers or eat at a friend's house, can you please tell us why?

Very odd leap.
