If I were a stranger reading these posts I would probably conclude that they were posted by someone who wasn't familiar with the custom of sharing meals with friends, or that they were posted by someone looking for an excuse to insult another poster. Or maybe even both.

Can you please explain how an alcoholic father would relate to her eating at a friend's home and friends eating at her home?

Probably a mix of both.

Obviously she is trying to paint some kind of picture that involves an alcoholic father making mealtimes so unpleasant that PA would want to escape by going to friends' homes, which could be the case with an alcoholic parent. But that doesn't explain why PA would have friends over to her home, does it? I mean, if she didn't want to be there, she wouldn't have friends over, would she? At the risk of being polysyllabic again, it would be pretty mortifying for most kids, and most kids with that type of alcoholic parent *would* avoid home and having friends over it possible. Coco seems to have missed the part about PA often having friends over. I wonder how?

Well since my son is only 5, he has not had any sleepovers yet and only has day, playdates (started this year only). My dd has gone to sleepovers but they are after dinnertime.

Nah, have read other posts in the past also. Coming home from school, alcoholic father on the couch, didn't go to work, etc. Would that be a situation you would want friends to see or want to be around when you came home? I doubt it.

Might possibly make sense if she did not also say that friends regularly ate at her home.

Has your daughter ever had dinner at a friend's home? Have you ever had any of their friends over for dinner?

Ever wonder why your kids are not invited to other homes for dinner?
