Why would you think that because people occasionally have outside of the home commitments at dinnertime that there is "no family time" anymore?
I know that you have a schedule such that dinner time might be the only time during the week that you all can sit down together, but that's not the case with everyone. "Family time" can be all weekend long; it can be most, but not all dinners; it can be frequent road trips with no distractions such as DVD players running while families drive together and talk; it can be late night talks driving home together from the away game that made dinner together impossible. There are a lot of ways to have "family time."
