<<Dinnertime is not what it used to be. There is no "family time" anymore. >>

I see that you're "attempting" that Drama Thing again!

We spent the summer in France a couple of years back and the kids learned there to drink wine or cider with meals. They don't care for wine much yet but they loved the ciders of Normandy, both apple and pear.

So why don't your kids play with other kids in the neighborhood and run in and out of each other's homes?--never said they didn't. Many of their friends do not live in our immediate neighborhood

There are a few but they are not all the same age and everyone's schedule doesn't always correspond.

You did say times had changed, and the way you describe it, with your children very seldom eating at other peoples' homes, it doesn't sound like they are not running in and out of each others homes much. In fact, the way I described my life sounded somewhat old-fashioned to you, so I was trying to understand what you meant by that. What is the "new fashion" in your neighborhood?

i love my kids too much to keep them out of activities that they truly enjoy (AND are good at) just because it falls during our dinner hour.

I think 5pm *is* early for most people who want to eat dinner together as a family. Most people I know don't get home from work that early, esp if it is a dual income family.
