LOL, but you were only mortified because you heard that word too much when you were a kid!

But she wasn't talking about kids helping themselves - she was talking about kids who wouldn't eat when food was offered to them.

Why would an invitation to share a meal equal "just help themselves to what's over there"?

I really wish someone would answer my question, what's wrong with stating the one's live is easy rather then

Yep, it is great. We are gearing up for our annual Fourth of July block party. The moonbounce arrives in a couple of hours, then we'll start setting up the food and other games. When it gets dark, we are walking down to the community beach to watch the fireworks show that some guy across the water puts on every year.

Of course, I admit, I'm a bit jealous. DS1 is at his best friend's house in another water community a couple miles away. Every year they have a real community party on the 4th of July. Each street makes their own float, then they have a parade followed by good ole fashioned games (potato sack races, etc), then there is a huge cookout while the kids all play in the bay. It sounded like something you'd see in Southern Living magazine! Unfortunately, our community isn't quite there yet. Ours used to be a summer "resort" community so when we first got here, there weren't that many year round residents and there were many really elderly residents. Year after year, more young families move in. Fortunately, in our section of the neighborhood, we have a really great group of people so we have our own party. There is a community party at the beach in August but nothing like the one where my son is today.

But still, we are blessed to live where we do, especially in the summer!

You know what's weird about my kid?

(Well, there are lots of things, but this is the one I want to talk about right now.LOL)

He has a TV in his room, and he hardly ever uses it.
