What country are you speaking of?

I agree that not "ALL" teachers are paid poorly but on the average a new teacher sure as heck isn't paid what they deserve in the good old USA.

"I agree that not "ALL" teachers are paid poorly but on the average a new teacher sure as heck isn't paid what they deserve in the good old USA."

That all depends on the area. Many people are paid exactly what they are and don't get off as much time as they do.

I think that she is saying that many people with comparable education, etc, are paid the same as teachers are paid, but that teachers have more time off (i.e., a nine month as opposed to 12 month contract). That's my best guess, anyway.

You know, I am sure that this situation is in no way comparable to Egd's....but the only time I have been tempted to tell a student to "buzz off" was one time when I got a phone call at home about 11 pm from a student who "heard" there was a paper due the next day, and wanted to know where the assignment could be found. Number one, the paper assignment had been handed out about three weeks earlier; number two, there was a copy on Blackboard; number three, the due date was on the course syllabus which had been handed out at the beginning of the class AND was posted on Blackboard; and number four, if you are calling me after ten pm, somebody better be dead or dying.

"And that comment is just childish and rude." and just plain wrong. Even many salaried government employees have leave that can be used to arrive an hour late, or the option to earn an hour of comp or credit time. Not to mention the ability to work a flexible schedule, come in an hour late and stay an hour late.
