Yeah, one of mine is going to need his Stage II braces pretty quickly. Luckily we knew it was coming so it won't take such a big bite out of our wallet. Big bite, braces, get it? ;-)

Wanted to add that if things go well, my last one will be out of school in five years and off to college. And I plan on thoroughly enjoying my laid back summers for years to come!

I think kids are getting braces too early now. I remember all of us getting them in 6th grade and maybe even later.

They have found out that if they do braces for a lot of conditions in two stages, that the kids will have less time in braces overall. My younger one has some substantial orthodontic issues and he had braces all his third grade year to correct the shape of his palate, then he will have to have braces for about six to eight months once all his permanent teeth come in. The orthodontist said that if we waited until he was a pre-teen to get started, it would be more painful because the bones in the jaw are harder, and it would take three years as opposed to about 20 months overall.
