We interviewed a couple as well and went with one that was close to school and that a number of friends have used over the years....I'm so thankful, I can't imagine putting my youngest through having multiple adult teeth pulled when hopefully it won't be necessary because we were proactive instead of reactive.

It's interesting, I love my kids ortho, he's great....we were in for a band change for the oldest a couple of months ago (every 4-6 weeks# and he asked to see ds2 who has been out of braces for about 4 months...anyway long story short they decided to put a band behind his lower teeth so that they wouldn't move from where the phase 1 had put them #it looked like they were moving slightly due to more space with baby teeth dropping out)....anyway, three visits and no charge to me for that.

What a shame about your friend's 16 yr-old dd.

It sounds like a combination of incompetence and greed, but it's hard to tell.

Oh, I'll engage in a well-deserved criticism of a lawyer too, any ole day that it's warranted.

Right. I can think of so many medical issues that would save soooo much money with a 'wait and see' attitude. Heart disease. Cancer. Liver and kidney disease. Tooth decay. All of these things are issues that are mistakenly treated early when the evidence is SOOOO clear that waiting to see if it's really going to be terminal (i.e., actually serious) would be the wiser and more economical choice.

And let's not even get STARTED on the misplaced emphasis on vaccines which are CLEARLY dangerous and should probably NEVER be given.

You are SO right. It's dangerous and foolish to treat developmental issues proactively. Always wait until the damage is done before trying to treat.

Well, don't let him use anything newfangled like electricity. There's a danger is being too modern, y'know.

I mean, there just aren't that many problems which can't be treated by a good bleeding, I always say.
