Well, if you know you're not going to get but 3-5 hours of sleep, you start letting other stuff go so you can add more time to your own bedtime. Especially if you know you don't deal well on depleted sleep.
I mean, it's like budgeting money. If you knew any given month was going to be especially tight, would you go spending money on frivolous stuff that month? Of course not. So you start figuring out what night-time activities you can afford to cut/reschedule for the weekend, so you can at least get the barebones "budget" of sleep.
And you remember these are seasons in life. The child won't always be doing this.
