"DH rarely sees the kids. He sees them for maybe a half hour in the mornings during the week and that's about it. I would never selfishly keep them awake so DH could see them. That's the REALITY when you work full time, not this so called "full time" you all claim to work and still spend 4 or 5
I'd no more make the blanket statement that dcp's provide better care than mothers than I'd make the statement that mothers provide the best care...but it's possible.
How many sah or woh do you know that have a 5:30pm bedtime for their children? Anecdotally, I can say I've met 100s of sah and woh families that I've discussed sleep patterns of our children, and I can't say I've met any that typically had a 5:30 bedtime. Have you?
I can say, also anecdotally, because I'm a manager in a male dominated field which normally has long work hours, that the sahms I know often let their children stay up later to spend at least a portion of their day with the late homecoming dad. The children and the sah spouse normally got to sleep later in the morning to compensate for the later night. Personally, I can't imagine sah with children of any age, including infants, that will exclude the other parent from...participating from parenting on a daily basis. I know this because its a part of my job as a people manager to help my staff achieve some kind of work life balance.
Do you really think it is a logical leap that woh would nornally have to adhere to a more rigid bedtime schedule than a sah?
Sure. I do not think the quality of care is better in dc than by the mother. The quality of care that I gave my girls at home was better than a dcp could provide.
Do I think daycare is poor quality of care? No. But, I certainly by no stretch of the imagination think it is better than the quality of care I gave them in those early years.

"When you have your kids in DC, a reputable one that is..... they force them at a year old to take one nap a day and be off the bottle completely. "
Um, no.
