I do know other people, and have friends whose kids don't sleep easily.

That is fine and I completely agree that we are just going in circles here. No biggie. However, I have not even managed to get to the point of being able to disagree with you, since I still don't know why you think mothercare is better.

As I said from the beginning, assuming the parent/child bond is healthy and strong, I see no reason why being with mom or a parent 24/7 would somehow be "better" than some combo of parentcare and othercare. To compare it with a spouse, for kicks, I have a healthy and strong bond with my dh. We enjoy each other's company. But that does not mean that it would be better for me to be with my dh 24/7. In fact, if I were, I might just want to strangle him, lol.

Wow, you know a lot about the inner goings-on of the SAHP mind.

Well, I'm sort of a SAHM each summer, and I've known quite a few over the years, too.

The posters you responded to were indeed the ones who brought up parents' attendance at their kids' activities, but I guess neither one of us really understands why.

And of course if your schools are diverse, they might very well include parents with a different POV regarding their participation in their kids' extracurriculars.

I did hire sitters in the field of childcare (an aide in Special Ed, a former full-time nanny and a woman getting first her BA in ECE and later her Master's in ECE) for anywhere from 4 - 12 hours/week.
