I object highly to the increasing trend to make homework a "family project" or require the need for Mom or Dad to help in order to get homework done. IMO, it is the equivalent of me sending some of my work to school and telling my son that I expect the teacher to have it back to me by close of business.

Teaching my child the subject matter to a point where he can complete his OWN work (either at school or home) is the TEACHER'S job--that's why my property taxes are so high. They need to stop expecting parents to be part of the actual "work" part of homework.

I'm increasingly grateful that my son is grown.

If you are saying that your preschool leaves the children unattended so the staff can go clean I would be surprised.
