The year we moved into the new house my parent's built, there were tons of snakes. My dad would kill them, and more would show up. I don't think there were too many after that first summer. This summer, though, I found one in my parents' garden sleeping under the leaves of the cucumber plants. Totally freaked me out. I got an ax out of the garage so I could finish picking a couple cucumbers. Luckily, it didn't move and had slithered off by the next time I went out to their garden.

I agree with you. I don't think it's possible to tell another family that what they consider a benefit to their own family really isn't.
