All I'm saying is that a family doesn't have to be overly busy to have both parents miss an activity or event.

Sure, looking it over isn't the same as doing it for them. But IME, there comes a time, usually somewhere during middle school, when parents need to back off altogether. I have one dd who doesn't always do her homework, and then the report card reflects that. Meaningful consequences are applied, and things improve. If she doesn't do the homework because she doesn't get it, then it's up to her to see the teacher for extra help on the schedule they give.

I think as a family, we benefitted from me going back to work at that time, so in that sense, yes.

Be careful about expecting to hear rattlesnakes -- the young ones don't have rattles but they are just as dangerous.
