My ds already does most of his homework on his own. I do help him if he asks and we usually have to use the spanish translator on the computer at least once, but overall he does great. I do make sure I am available, but don't really go over his

I couldn't have even contemplated it as I was in the midst of a divorce and buying the home from my ex (actually, he quit-claim on the house so it was mine outright).

He's very young, and at his age a lot of kids are still learning how to do homework. If he's in a special program, I'd imagine the teacher or the school would set the homework policy they think best for his grade level.

OK, but if it were happening on a regular basis, I'd consider them overscheduled.
