I think what happens when there is a discussion like this is that those on the extremes express themselves far more frequently and vociferously to the point that the topic gets distorted. I think most people believe something pretty close to what you believe even if that isn't what is being represented here. Then there are those who just aren't attending as many activities (by active choice or because there is an obstacle) and have come to terms with it. I think the people who have come to terms with it tend to lay it on a bit thick that there wasn't all that big a need to go to the activities in the first place. Which is a perspective that only comes after someone has failed to attend a bunch of activities.
It reminds me of when I used to attend early childhood family education classes with my children. By the time I had my fourth kid, my answer to the fretting first time mother who was spending an inordinate amount of time worrying about her three year old's lack of interest in carrots was always, "Have another baby." It'll take your mind off the carrot problem.

Yes, I understand that it would be harder with four kids and that you wouldn't be able to go to every event.
I didn't say that it was.

Exactly and working status has nothing to do with that.

My kids will be in two different schools next year, I'm not looking forward to it at all.
