Sadly, no. Figuring out what to wear to DH's Christmas party is enough to give me the fits. To make it worse, the company invite says, "Denim to Diamonds," and DH has announced he's going "denim" this year.
I'd check with the women your DH works with and see what they are wearing -- there's probably a consensus among the women about what "denim to diamonds" really means (men are worthless on this sort of issue).
Dh and I enjoy seeing our kids play soccer or piano; we enjoy socializing with our friends, who also go to these events; and our kids like having us there.

I agree, I review weekly the work my children have completed as it is sent home at the end of each week.

My advice, from going to far too many of these events with wishy-washy dress codes:
"I think most people believe something pretty close to what you believe even if that isn't what is being represented here."
