Divorce rulings on SAHM's alimony?

I have seen this many times, and I am wondering what your guys' opinion on this. Of course with divorce rates so high we find couples with children in court all the time finding out what is entitled to mothers for alimony. The argument is, should SAHM's receive more alimony then WOHM's? This meaning SAHM's who have through the whole marriage stayed at home with the children while the fathers successeds in their careers. This also meaning if they are going to pursue a career after the fact is their income be significant enough compared to the EX since they have been out of the work force for years and has not gained experience in what ever career the would have pursued.

I personally know someone who went through the exsact same thing and had a hard time finding a job(with income compareable) after the divorse since she hadn't worked for 25yrs.

The question also arise, does the SAHM contribute to the Fathers success because they choose to stay home therefore they should receive a cut now that they are divorced (the same as many would if they were still married)?

Thoughts? Please state weather you are a SAHM or WOHM when you place your comments

Be who you are and say what you feel because those  who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Even if she is wife #2, it only tangentially bears on the debate.

Oh, I agree. This isn't what we mean when we say our kid's needs come first.

There are a lot of other facts that you left out. Did you also know that under the Texas community property laws, one half of all the husband's income earned during the marriage is automatically owned by the wife, even if she never worked a day in her life. This includes the pension and other benefits that he earned during marriage. This also includes all the things he bought.

So, it's not like the law says, "he worked, he gets it all, and she gets nothing now, nothing later, nothing ever." It says anything earned during marriage is owned equally by both. Anything earned outside marriage (before or after) is owned by the party who worked for it).

You conveniently left out that part of the explanation.

Hey, you know yourself better than we do. If you have to make things up (like my being married to a divorced man) or invent things for whatever reason, or try to bring in irrelevant personal matters to embarrass or whatever your motivation, it is still petty and immature. It's all pretty bad in my book. But if those are personal attributes you are proud to embrace, more power to you.

It isn't about MOM thinking SHE wouldn't be extremely miserable if her kids were spending most of their time with DAD after divorce. It is about MOM knowing that SHE could allow her children to do that, if it were in the children's best interests - even if WASN'T IN MOM'S BEST INTERESTS. Like DADS (most of whom have testosterone) manage to do quite often.

Uh, yes, that's very basic stuff WRT community property. With all the noise you're making about how I'm not saying anything, I thought it best not to state the obvious, LOL.
