This theme was touched upon in another thread and I wanted to discuss it further.

what would be odd to me is if you named your third something old fashioned or traditional like mary to those other two names.

My brother's wife and my husband's sister both have the same first and middle names. The kids distinguish in the way they pronounce "aunt." One is a New Englander, so she's "Arntie ___." the other is "Ant ____." In conversations DH & I do the same thing as you. "Your ___" and "My ___." Or "your sister" vs. "my brother's wife." But that gets wordy.

The other topic being debated is amusing and makes me both sorry and glad that I'm not part of the backstory.

Angela's best friend is named after her father. Her parents divorced when she was in elementary school and she lived with her dad. She and her dad lived next door to her mom and her 2ns dh. By the time she was in high school her dad was an interstate trucker so when he was out of town, she didn't have to disrupt her life. But while he was gone, she could write checks and pay the bills because she had the same name as her dad.

I forgot to add to my other post that a friend of mine has FIVE girls - the youngest two are twins. We don't see them often, maybe a couple times a year. Their names in order are Colette, Cecile, Camille, Chloe and Claire. The only one whose name I can remember when I see her is the oldest girl. I can never remember if Cecile or Camille is the next oldest and have to think about it. To top it all off, they all look very much alike, are close in age and there isn't much difference in size (the oldest is 12 and about as tall as my almost 10 y/o). We ran into a few of them this weekend at a soccer tournament and after we walked away, dh said, "I have no idea who was there/what their names are b/c their names are all too similar!" I agreed and said the only one I knew for sure was Colette! I should add that the twins are also identical twins.

Then there's the woman I know named Rosemary, who married a man with the lastname of Rose. She *did* take his name, so now she is Rosemary Rose.
