This theme was touched upon in another thread and I wanted to discuss it further.

Heh. Median HHI is $36,000 and Median home value is $142K.

That must be great, and obviously allows for a much better standard of living than living where my SIL, for example lives. I checked her town, and there the latest stat is somewhere around 120K for average HHI, but the median house price is 800K.

LOL, that's very true. I'm making about $82K/yr these days. which would kick butt just about anywhere else in the country. In my county? It's not even the median income. :) To say nothing of the value of my condo, compared to the median price of a home in the county.

LOL, as I said before, I make a nice income on paper, but compared to the norms in my county, I'm only one step out of the trailer park :D

Yes, I am actually surprised how huge the variation in the HHI/median house price ratio is from place to place. I think it is easy to assume that the numbers might vary, but that the ratio would be more or less stable. Obviously it is not at all.

Think Europe vs US. The prices and costs in Romania are vastly different than the costs in the UK. It is cheaper to live in a suburb of Warsaw than in Paris. I think that are similar variations between HHI and cost of housing ratios.

Oh I am sure similar variations exist in Europe. Either way it is sort of striking. I at least tend to assume (stupidly) that you can't earn a decent income consistently in places where the housing is cheap. Obviously that is a bad assumption.

I love that we have a low turn over. That is why we know so much about our neighbors and it tells you that it is a nice place to live and people don't want to move.

They were pretty comfotable. I find the higher and skinnier the heel, the more comfortable. I wasn't walking far distances either as I wore them to a party.

Are you including child support in that number?
