This theme was touched upon in another thread and I wanted to discuss it further.

Exactly. Some of my students this semester seem to think wearing their pajamas to school is the height of cool. They just look like overgrown toddlers to me.

IRL, a salary is more personal than a job title.
On the SAH vs. WOH debate board, a job title can be a springboard for Google searches that lead to posters searching for other posters' children on Facebook.

You can't google everyone who makes 100 grand a year, but you can certainly google a job title and come up with a name.

You can't really know someone's income by knowing their salary, either. There are many other sources of income besides salary.

Thank you, because this was getting silly.

If it took the shoemaker a week or more to make a pair, $900 would seem to me a quite reasonable price to pay...assuming one is willing to pay a living wage in somewhere other than a third-world country....

Otherwise, I absolutely agree that there are many absurdly expensive shoes out there that cost a pittance to make and are only expensive due to branding and advertising. I'm not talking about those.

Of course it's a lot of money, I never said otherwise.

True, besides investments and annuities, there is always the bank of mom and dad.
