Nope, not neighbors. These people did not live near me. I do know people near me (more than 2) that get wic, welfare and food stamps and not all have children either. Some of them work a few jobs, smoke cigarettes, play scratch offs, don't pay their bills but they are still given welfare and food stamps each month.

Yeah, what a lazy bum. She certainly didn't deserve housing assistance. (tongue in cheek, obviously)
and if tenant can't come up with said rent, will section 8 just evict?
There are many other single moms out there that don't use section 8 because they are single moms.
What is your point? The largest banks would have gone under with fatal economic consequences.
The smaller banks with less exposure would have failed like dominos in the complete economic meltdown. Conservative and liberal economists and the Fed and exec branch of government have little disagreement about the necessity of the initial bailouts.
Please do look it up.
I didn't specify gender but I think a man might have a hard time getting WIC (doesn't it stand for Women, Infants and Children?).
I agree.
No "real" situation. Single mother, working fulltime, 2 boys.
The other people living near her were able-bodied adults also. BUT..they all had the latest toys, etc. I guess if you only pay $30 (or however low compared to regular apts. around) a month for rent, you can afford the toys.
There are sooo many stories IME of people getting benefits though. My cousin is an able bodied adult male and welfare was offering him money and food stamps just because he said he didn't have a job. Another person I know gets welfare and food stamps. They work a few jobs, doesn't pay their bills BUT is able to buy cigarettes and scratch offs every week.
