This theme was touched upon in another thread and I wanted to discuss it further.

I didn't specify gender but I think a man might have a hard time getting WIC (doesn't it stand for Women, Infants and Children?).

Seriously? That is simultaneously hilarious and pathetic.

Perhaps those of you who are so busy condemning WIC and food stamps ought to be required to know something about them before posting--if only to prevent making fools of yourself. Thanks for the laugh.

However, in the interests of education, and since you've demonstrated a complete inability to look up unfamiliar words and phrases, let alone do even the most basic research into the very programs against which you rail incessantly, come the day a man lactates for his baby, he'll be included in WIC.

How many women do you know nurse their children until they are 5 years old?

I was hoping we were talking abou men getting WIc for their children, not for themselves. Women, as you know, can only get WIC as long as they are pregnant or lactating.

They had someone watch them, family and/or friends, no childcare cost.

What on earth does that have to do with anything? The children don't have to be nursing to qualify for them to receive food from WIC.

There seems little to no point in discussing the finer points of the topic with the current crop of dissenters--they've demonstrated no ability to parse information.

Thanks. I doubt that her income was all that "decent" if she qualified for section 8, but if she had no childcare costs, no debt, and no other major expenses then I agree that $30 a month seems like awfully low rent for her situation.
