This theme was touched upon in another thread and I wanted to discuss it further.

You've certainly implied otherwise, many times.

Government, city, county, town, villages, police, fire dept and school salaries are all public. Public companies also publish salaries. I see my bosses salary every year as it is published in our local paper.

State owned homes are lived in by many different types of people. Many are harmless but many are not. Many have mental disabilities. You also do not know what type of friends they are allowing at their homes also.
I don't know about you but when it comes to having children, I am always looking out for their benefit (as do my other neighbors, friends and family) and do not care to have people living near me who could do potential harm to my children or home.

Could you please tack on to the end of the first one:

Ah. Then you do look up people's salaries whenever you can. Thanks for explaining!

"State owned homes are lived in by many different types of people. Many are harmless but many are not. Many have mental disabilities. You also do not know what type of friends they are allowing at their homes also. "

The same could be said about people living in their own private owned homes, as well as about people renting homes or apartments. I don't see how the knowledge that someone lives in a state owned home can possibly provide any information about who that person is.

" I am always looking out for their benefit (as do my other neighbors, friends and family) and do not care to have people living near me who could do potential harm to my children or home."

How would you prevent people who could do potential harm to your children or home from living near you? Would you, for example, move if a convicted child molester moved in down the street? Are there legal measures you could use (or have used) to force an "undesirable" person to move out of your neighborhood? Just curious...I've never actually heard of anyone being able to control who their neighbors are.

Thank you! How did I miss that?

Perhaps we should also add "what type of friends will be visiting your home?"

I wonder if anyone has done a study on crimes committed in nice middle class neighborhoods and compared how many were committed by residents of state-owned or subsidized houses, or their guests, versus the number committed by residents who paid full rent or were homeowners, or their guests?

No, I said you CAN if you would like. It is hard NOT to miss my bosses when I read the newspaper.

The reasons WHY they are living there tell you alot about them.

Would I move? No but if it was a dangerous situation, I would find out if that person is actually allowed to live there. I WILL call any source that I can if there is problems with the tenants of a state owned home though.

Okay, let me rephrase the question.

IYO and IYE, based upon the people you know, are the ones who live in Section 8 a different type of person?
