This theme was touched upon in another thread and I wanted to discuss it further.

I was just looking at the state employees' website that includes salary information. Teachers aren't included-- probably since they are technically county, rather than state employees (I think).

"Maybe it is just too different as I would never consider finding out someone's occupation to be gossipy."

Doing so in the manner you describe would definitely count as gossipy, in my opinion. Obviously, you feel differently. I can only hope your neighbors feel the same way you do :-).

On the front page, no, but not too far into the paper.
Not too hard to go on the local school district site and find the salaries.

Some are, some are not. I do NOT know everyone's salary and care to know. Some are public knowledge though.

So, it is really more of a medium/large district.

What kind of illegal activities are easy to spot? I can see spotting a marijuana plant in the back garden. But otherwise how would you know?

My mom & 2 sisters have J names. And their cousins have all L names. I wonder why J names are so popular for doing this.

Acutally it's funny, but one of my friend's dh's name is Rocky. His brother's name is Stony but they are just stepbrothers so the naming was not coordinated.

Correct. Our local teachers aren't included in our state's site either.
