Do you know any men with "daddy guilt"?

Do you know any men in your life, DH or otherwise, who have expressed or display a male version of "mommy guilt"? Not just wanting to spend more time with the kids, but feeling extremely torn and even upset about not being there more for the kids. Or, men who wish they could SAH, but can't (for financial or societal reasons).

If you don't know any personally, do you think there's a significant contingent of men who do have this guilt? Or is it simply a female invention?

In my circle of family and friends his active role is quite rare. I have many friends whose DH's won't even "babysit" (ACK don't get me started!) their own kids."

I'm not surprised, but I can spell it out for you.

PNJs dh should feel guilty, but you shouldn't?

I've never heard of this - only the opposite.

Sometimes I find it hard to bite my tongue around friends and family who are whining about their Dh's not spendign time w/the kids, etc....umm hello..MAKE them step up! They wouldn't be doing it if they weren't being permitted to get away w/it KWIM? I think that Dad's who are hands on ahve a MUCH better understanding of what it's like to be a mom. All of my kiddos were cared primarily by Dh during the day when they were babies and I went back to work (either pt or ft).
