I have to be honest. I have spent roughly no minutes worrying about her or the babies.

There are so many families with more kids than money - parents that didn't seek to have 8 embryos implanted but simply had children and then found themselves in financial trouble due to the housing market, the bad economy or whatever. I mean, this woman's children need help, but so do many thousands of other children who have no hope of getting it because their moms didn't have 8 at once, making them quasi-celebs. I feel sorry for them, as well as for the 14 children in this case.

These poor kids need help, but in a way that cannot benefit the mom. Her judgment is so obviously off that whatever money there is needs to bypass her and be spent on the children's well-being directly. I would never donate to a fund that she could access.

It's one thing to find yourself in a bad place when you planned, reasonsibly, well.

I do feel for those kids, ALL 14 of them, they will not get the care or attention they deserve, it isn't their fault their mother is insane. That said, I have six of my own, ranging in age from 18 to 5 year old twins, I had my kids all without fertility drugs, whatever, and would never expect anyone else to support them. I am also married for almost 20 years, and we can support them, although its not easy. I cant even wrap my brain around the idea of TRYING to have another one, let alone 8 more, it just wouldn't be responsible.

If this was a daycare instead of a family, that ratio of adults to small children would be soooo illegal.

She would have to hire something like 3 round-the-clock nannies in order to bring the adult-to-child ratio to acceptable levels. I seriously have no idea what she was thinking by going through IVF again. Even if CPS did take the children away, it's not like there would be any chance in heck of them being adopted together, especially the octuplets. What a mess.

This may sound cold, and I do feel for those children - it's not their fault - but right now I have my own family's well-being to consider, and we don't have extra money to go around. Although even if I had the money, I'm not sure I'd give it to her. Perhaps as other posters have suggested, if there was a fund that was specifically for the children, but I wouldn't give money directly to her.

Exactly. Would I donate to the octuplet children? Probably. Would I donate to the octuplet MOM? No way.

It's the difference between donating to a homeless shelter and giving money to a panhandler.
