Do you think a SAHM should go back to work once the kids start school?

  • Absolutely, why shouldn't she? There's no reason why she shouldn't.
  • It's up to her & her family.
  • No, not really. What do the kids being in school have to do w/ her working?

If I were AH, I'd try to catch The View, Oprah, and "Personal TLC." (not everyday, but some days)

I had to chuckle at this post b/c the *only* way I can get through chores is if I have the TV or radio on! LOL

I agree, everyone deserves respect. That is not the same as a pat on the back.

And I wasn't talking about you.

Sure can refute you. Maybe you needed to try Saturday. Most working parents can make a 5pm, class. Its where one person goes to work earlier, the other later, to stagger the day. I think just about everyone does that. But let me help you out. Gym and ballet are expensive. In a small community, how do you think they got enough people who could afford the activities, if they limitted the clientelle to single income only families. We do have those kinds of communities - they are AFFLUENT. It works like this. The little kids who come in at 3 and 4 yrs for play sessions become the 7-18 yr olds who pay hundreds a month for a decade in order to persue the sport seriously. They need to make the kiddie classes avail to the families with the best disposable income possible - so that they have enough talented kids who can afford to persue the sport more seriously. Unless you are in an affluent area - that means the kiddie classes have to be avail to the dual income kids. Its the only way it works. Perhaps your studio and gym were just NEW, and it took them a year to figure out what I could have told them, and they should have known, the day they openned their doors. Doing it my way now, aren't they? Thats because I was RIGHT.

Excuse me? So what your saying is that while you where a SAHM for 5 years, you laid on the couch all day and watched Jerry Springer eating ice cream?? b/c otherwise your argument is completley irrelevant B/c most mom's in general are not miserable isolated lazy angry individuals who did what you described as perhaps your life as a sahm. WOH do not have it harder than SAH mothers, they are paying people for the responsibilty of their childcare while a SAH mother is caring for the child/ren herself. A SAHM does not have it harder than a WOHM b/c she has more time in her day to tend directly to all her responsibility in her home and is not responsible for going out of her home to work for money for a living. Now if a sahm and a woh mom pay for all their home care childcare landcare responsibility ect than that women has it made on the finacially stable issue but not the reward's of being a family and parent .

Ya want to know what Iam not buying? Much of what you say.

I can't happen the way you say. The activities couldn't exist - not enough people paying to play. Which is why, as you said you observerd, the gym changed its mind. Either that, or go out of business.

They work it into their schedules. My Dh will be taking off when our kids get old enough for activities during the 3-6 time. Besides. We prefer to be at home from 6:00 on for the rest of the evening, it works for my DH's work schedule, great for all of us.
