Do you think a SAHM should go back to work once the kids start school?

  • Absolutely, why shouldn't she? There's no reason why she shouldn't.
  • It's up to her & her family.
  • No, not really. What do the kids being in school have to do w/ her working?

Yep, that sounds about right. I know during spring and summer baseball we almost never ate dinner until 8:00 or 8:30 at night. What really makes me insane are the 8:00 am Saturday games. Ouch!

It's awful. I don't know how the families with 4 or more kids do it. I think I remember stuff being pretty much free when I was a kid.

See, that's just it, I'm unwilling to hold off dinner until 8pm or 8:30. That is my kids bedtime!!! That is one of the big reasons we believe having a SAHP is best for our family.

It has nothing to do with SAH, that's what time things are, you just can't choose to do baseball, or swimming, or orchestra, or lacrosse earlier. I do give my kids something to eat beforehand, but after they are hungry again, my husband and I aren't accustomed to eating early, so I kind of have to serve dinner all over again.

My kids are probably older than yours. I'm pretty sure that if you did work and had to get your kids to a 5:30 or 6:00 activity, that you could pack something for them to eat on the way there.

Which is fine but I'm sorry, I just don't see any reason to pat you on the back for that, lol. I think getting to do what you want is it's own reward.

Dinner at 5! Right on schedule every day! Bedtimes at 8:30. So the 3-6p activities are wonderful things for families'. We believe family time is the most important thing every night, every day, every wknd. More important than activities.

News for you. I didn't ask for a pat on the back. But all women should be respected. That is what I was saying. I didn't ask to be put on a pedestal (your favorite saying about sahms) either.

Well, actually, their swim time is at 3:30, so that is one that they wouldn't be able to make. Their piano is also from 3:30 until 4:30. And DDs art lessons were at 4pm, all the way across town.

As far as packing something to eat for them, it would have to be dinner, as we don't eat "meals" at 7:30-8:30pm, and we prefer to not have meals on the go. Ahhh...the choices we all make! :)

DAMN! You mean there are days of the week other than M-F? Shoot, if I"d known that I would have asked about weekend classes. Glad you informed me there are more than 5 days of the week cause I've obviously gone 32 years without realizing that.
