The difference (per studies) is in family time. As long as there is quality family time each day, I have no problem with the choice that a parent makes one way or the other.

Yeah but time isn't important unless you don't have enough.

No difference at all as far as I can tell.

However you've contradicted yourself.

I wonder sometimes if you read something into every mom here who has been or is a SAHM that isn't there.

I am saying that be it a SAHP or a WAHP or a WOHP, there needs to be family time in order for the kids to not have the problems that are shown in studies of families where both parents WOH. It is easier for this to happen when one parent SAH, but it is not exclusive to SAHP families. The main point here is that family time is necessary.

BTW, can you show me the studies stating that families with both parents WOH have kids who turn out just the same as families with a SAHP? Just out of curiosity. I honestly have not come across any, but that doesn't mean that they aren't out there. TYIA

It depends on a lot of factors. If both parentas are working 18 hour days , than I think that could have a negative impact. I f a mother is sah but they are eating mac and cheese every night than I can see it having a negative impact.

I do not think it is as cut and dry as "work satus has no effect on children".

even dh's sometimes crazy schedule (plus he's out of town all this week, kids and i miss him dearly) doesn't account for the difference he makes in their lives...otoh,mil's opinion is polar opposite.
