No, you just allowed your dd to believe that her friend's mom is lazy.

Another possibility is that the rentals are perfectly legal. I live in an area where two family and three family houses are pretty common. As long as the property is zoned for it and everything follows proper code, it is legal. Just because somebody rents out half their house does not mean they are breaking the law. It could be that you just aren't aware of local zoning and are assuming that if it's not part of a complex, it's not legal.

sometimes, I even serve pizza to the cleaning lady when I don't feel like or don't have the time to cook....I must be a lazy parent if I have to pay the pizza restaurant to make my dinner for me!

I actually have rented out part of my home. The area I live in is zoned for both single family and multi family houses. The city charged me property tax based on my home being two-family and I reported all income to the IRS. I am wondering if the people you see rentiong out part of their homes are doing the same and you are just ASSUMING it's an illegal rental because you didn'tt know about multi-family zoning.

No everyone doesn't think that renting only means in a complex or a separate home. But what you seem unaware of is that it's not illegal to rent out part of your home so long as your area is zoned as mixed single family/multi family and if you report your rental income to the IRS and if your city government knows that your home is multi family and adheres to rental code.

That is very kind of you. I usually just eat my pizza and lift my feet so my maid can vaccum under them. :)

i'm so glad to know that dh's place is BY MY SIDE. We work together to do all of it -- bring in the money, take care of the home, raise our kids, etc.

So seeing as you just ignore my questions I am not sure why I could even ask this but here it is.....Do you ever think that you don't want to be judged lest you shouldn't judge others?
