Illegal, yes, criminal, no. It is not a "crime" to rent out of your home and not have a permit. It might not be right, but you will not go to jail for it. You will get a fine and ask to make the apt back to a living space and not have renters.

Yes, I do know. I also know that people claim alot of things on taxes to get breaks. I also have won something that I had to claim on my taxes so I am well aware of that.
