Many cities I have been to have had different ethnic sections within the cities, it's not really a shocking kind of thing as far as I know nor have I known that that specific ethnic group is required to live in that area.
Us too -- my friend Susie lived in our house in our 3rd bedroom for 6 months during her divorce. when her husband cut up her credit cards and took her off the bank accounts -- when she got a job she insisted on giving us $50 a week in rent while she saved for her own place -- but we were really roomates more than landlords-- it was actually one of the funnest times in my life - me Susie and David - it was like threes company ;-)

It's not weird at all. I'm eligible to teach preschool now, after just 2 months of classes and 2 exams. If I teach in a public elementary school for a year on a probationary license, then I will become a certified teacher (PreK - 4th). But certification is not necessary to teach in the private preschools. There are plenty of year-round preschools, too.
Yes, exactly. Way back when, there used to be almost "pure" enclaves, like Chinatown, Greektown and Little Italy (in various cities). These days, a place is often referred to as "Italian" or "Greek" or "Irish" even if there is a mixture of people living there.
well our twist was that I was still pretending to be straight LOL - this was way before Liza was born!

When we rented, it wasn't for the money...at all, it was to help out a friend, who insisted on paying rent.

My kids went to preschool year round and it was the school district's preschool.
