but learning to deal with an unhappy situatio, a difficult peer, a demanding teacher, is what helps our kids learn how to deal with difficult bosses, frustrating co-workers,

No, that's not what I meant but I think you answered my question when you said you didn't visit the classroom, talk to the teachers or get a feel for the neighborhood.
