I never said shopping wasn't frivolous, just that I would rather spend my money on shopping than to pay someone to do my job.

Is there any way you can just leave the kid home when you grocery shop for awhile? Some kids are just too stimulated by being in places like grocery stores at that age.

Another thing that worked when my kids were little is to get them involved in the grocery shopping process. Tell them you need six apples and have them point to the ones that look nice and help you count. Have them hold the bag while you put green beans in it. Stuff like that.
