You don't even like pie. I know deep down inside you prefer chocolate cake.

Is that a rule? Do they check the employment status of every parent?

She would not be upset that her child has to wait for a ride and stay at school -- IF her child actually had to do that. She's "upset" because you're making crap up.

Well, no ... because she doesn't have chocolate cake every day in her home, so she can't have an opinion about chocolate cake.

BUT - she has seen chocolate cake on a big screen HDTV, which is just like eating it, so it's okay.

I don't think people understand that it's really crossing a line to bring other people's kids into the debate. Some people don't even seem to understand that it's crossing a line to friend other poster's kids on fb. You can say whatever you want about me, but leave my minor kids out of it, please.

41 hours a week is still a lot fewer than 76. You really can't think of anything you could do to occupy your time productively other than working?

When I think of active and involved I think of grandparents like my MIL who took off work once a week this summer to take the kids to the park to play. Or my mom who I can call at the drop of the hat to watch the kids if something crazy is going on at work and one of the kids is sick.
