Our farmers market is amazing. It's pretty small, but all of the farmers come from very small local family farms. I love meeting with the farmers themselves. Many of them bring their kids, and there is usually a local group doing some kind of small performance-- last Saturday was the show choir from the high school I graduated from. We get most of our produce through a CSA from one of the farmers at the market, but I usually need to buy some fruit and meat on Saturdays. We're getting some beef from my uncle soon (he raises beef cows), and I'm looking to purchase some pork . . . if I can find it.
I really wish I had the time and money to put in some fruit trees on our acre. That (and milk) are the main things we are missing when trying to eat locally. And if I had more time for errands, I could probably get some local milk-- but I'd have to drive about 3 hours round trip to pick it up.
