I don't think people understand that it's really crossing a line to bring other people's kids into the debate. Some people don't even seem to understand that it's crossing a line to friend other poster's kids on fb. You can say whatever you want about me, but leave my minor kids out of it, please.

I agree but I also think it goes beyond crossing the line, it's downright creepy.

41 hours a week is still a lot fewer than 76. You really can't think of anything you could do to occupy your time productively other than working?

I'm not sure where you are getting the 41 versus 76, but no, that's why I work because it is the most productive use of that time for my family, given the benefits of working those hours.

Yes, when I think of active and involved to me it's more than just the events on a stage (so to speak), it's being part of their everyday lives.

I don't think I replied to this . . .

Our farmers market is amazing. It's pretty small, but all of the farmers come from very small local family farms. I love meeting with the farmers themselves. Many of them bring their kids, and there is usually a local group doing some kind of small performance-- last Saturday was the show choir from the high school I graduated from. We get most of our produce through a CSA from one of the farmers at the market, but I usually need to buy some fruit and meat on Saturdays. We're getting some beef from my uncle soon (he raises beef cows), and I'm looking to purchase some pork . . . if I can find it.

I really wish I had the time and money to put in some fruit trees on our acre. That (and milk) are the main things we are missing when trying to eat locally. And if I had more time for errands, I could probably get some local milk-- but I'd have to drive about 3 hours round trip to pick it up.

That sounds great, I know we have some local ones but I just haven't spent the time researching them because it seems each community around here has them and well, I'm usually at games on Saturday morning.

no posters are "looking down" at study groups.

Who are you speaking for when you state "posters"?

You calculated that Cruisinchick already has 41 hours a week that aren't spent working or sleeping. She has said that she could find lots of things to do other than working with the 35 hours per week she spends working. Then you said that she might need better time management skills. It's great that working is the best way your can spend your time productively, and that you've found a balance that works for you. For quite a few of us, working does mean that there are some things that fall by the wayside. I like my job, and right now it's the best thing for our family. But if our family was not best served by my working, I can think of dozens of things I could be doing that I simply don't have time or energy to do right now. I think it's unfair to assume that because someone feels like an extra 35 or 40 hours a week would not be too many to fill with productive-non-work activities, they have bad time management skills. A few of hours of me time would certainly be nice, considering that is in very short order for me, too.
