that's funny, other moms at home and i do joke about the line. i've never heard that line from a wohm, no surprise IME tough, Lol.

So you pick up your kid from school, no bus?

What's interesting in my experiences is the car pool line can be just as bad (if not worse) at 5.30 with all the kids being done with after school sports practices than it is when school ends, lol.

Nope, I've never seen that blog. It looks interesting though.

Part of the problem with planting fruit trees is that I have to install a deer fence before I can plant them. :( I keep getting Stark Bros. catalogs, and imagining all the different kinds of things I can plant.

It was too wet this year here, so a lot of the tomatoes succumbed to blight :( We got our peppers out a little bit late, but we started getting a few last week. We had tons of squash at the beginning of the summer, but powdery mildew and squash bugs kind of took them over.

We can get some local produce that grocery store, but most of it still comes from giant conventional producers-- just ones in PA, instead of FL.

Pretty common here, too. IME, many parents want supervision after school for MS kids.

You calculated that Cruisinchick already has 41 hours a week that aren't spent working or sleeping. She has said that she could find lots of things to do other than working with the 35 hours per week she spends working. Then you said that she might need better time management skills. It's great that working is the best way your can spend your time productively, and that you've found a balance that works for you. For quite a few of us, working does mean that there are some things that fall by the wayside. I like my job, and right now it's the best thing for our family. But if our family was not best served by my working, I can think of dozens of things I could be doing that I simply don't have time or energy to do right now. I think it's unfair to assume that because someone feels like an extra 35 or 40 hours a week would not be too many to fill with productive-non-work activities, they have bad time management skills. A few of hours of me time would certainly be nice, considering that is in very short order for me, too.

No, it was more than 41, it was 9 free hours in a day, during the week plus 32 hours on the weekend = 77 total free hours in the week.

That's great that you have a good balance. Because someone feels she does not have a good balance at the moment, does not mean she has poor time management skills. She may need more sleep than you do and has less free time. Or she may have higher cleaning standards. Or she may have responsibilities that take more time than your responsibilities. Or she may be a person who needs more downtime than you do. Or she . . .

I live in the city proper, and we still have tons of deer problems. The city council actually approved an urban deer hunt (professionals come in with bows and arrows is my understanding). The deer is going to be processed and donated to local soup kitchens, which I think is fabulous.

Interesting. never heard of something like that before. I'm guessing they have limited spots?

EGD, why would you find it surprising that WOH parents find the pick-up lines just as annoying as do SAHPs? Do you think WOH parents are some separate species with different neurological wiring?
