Do you know why?
Yeah, 75% of kids are involved in after school activities in ah ha's children's school because they do not have busses and if they have parents who work later than when school lets out, where else would they go and what would they do. Bawahhhaa..
I find it odd that parents would drive home from work too and then come back out to get their kids from school since I am pretty sure ah ha said that her kids school is not close to her home, maybe 30-45 mins away and she was closer to work (I am not 100% sure now though).

And I do have very good time management skills but I still can't sleep as late as I want. Make appointments for the most part whenever I want. Go to the beach to get a tan whenever I want. Shop whenever I want. I have a responsibility to be at my job everyday, something that someone retired does not. That does not mean that I don't use the 9 "extra" hours I have a day to do what I "need" to do. My house is clean, my fridge is stocked, the clothes are clean, the beds are made, etc..etc...as I could go on. I get A LOT done in a little bit of time. That does not mean though that I have the extra time to do whatever I want.
I have 3 hours in the morning in which I can't make any appointments or really go out and do something.
I have an hour for lunch so I can and do run errands, make teacher conference appointments, etc. but I like to go home and that is really my "me" time that I like to relax and have lunch.
I have about 6 hours at night which I make dinner, clean up dinner, throw in a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher, check homework, read mail, do things with the kids, go to the gym, watch some TV, spend time with the hubby, run errands, maybe make an appointment.
I don't have a TON of time during the day though as it sounds and it is really not "free" time to do whatever I want, whenever.
And again, I never said that was the ONLY reason.
We have busses and I have heard working parents ask about aftercare for their 6th grader at parent night and the principal telling them they do not have it for the middle school but they can join a club or sport and it would be the same thing as they could go home on the late 5pm bus if the parents did not want them home alone until they got off of work.
So they are not "there" everyday, also like a grandparent who does not live close by.
Don't you think they could be in contact with them everyday though or would that be impossible?
I can see the difference between my relationship with my grandparents who I saw maybe every other year (one grandmother one year; the other set the next year) while I was growing up and the relationship my children have with their grandparents and I have with my grandchildren whom I see weekly, if not more often.
