So "yes" to your last paragraph. The Girl left the house at 6;30am yesterday morning and didn't get home until 9pm. With the exception of the "dinner" break she had from 3-4, none of that was social time; it was school or band. We got home and she said "Mom, do you realize I haven't been home in over 14 hours?"

she'd like to do cross country - interferes with band. She'd like to do venture crew, but she can't find enough time to fit it in. She wants to be involved in the children's museum (which is having it's GRAND OPENING in 3 weeks!) with me, but can't find enough hours to volunteer and always has a conflict with the museum's event dates.

Many kids get to a point where they have to choose 1 or 2 things and give up all the rest ... there just isn't time for it *all*.

involved grandparents (and parents, for that matter) is about the relationship IMO. if all an involved grandparent is was attending a recital, a sports event or providing dcp without the close relationship then i'd not want that kind of involved person in my child's life. i've read and heard irl too about strained family relationships, and these families live near eachother, Lol. maybe what some have so physically close they take more for granted than someone who lives far away. my family has a strong bond, and that bond isn't shaken because we live thousands of miles away.

Wow an assumption that gparents close by may not really be close in relationship as stated in examples by the poster here.

Actually there are equestrian scholarships, and not just a few of them. It's an NCAA recognized sport.

Then why would you mention "elite private school" kids then?

Do you think your child will get a scholarship from sports?
