So do you know how many kids actually DO need a ride home and have to wait for their parents or someone else to pick them up after the time that school ends?
One of the vocabulary words my sons had to learn in 8th grade was "irrefragable."
But you do have the experience so maybe you can tell me how many of these students actually DON'T have a ride right after school and have to wait.... :)
I highly recommend the book "Colleges that Change Lives."
I think it depends on which public school you attend. Virtually all of the students at ODS's HIgh School are college bound.
I said earlier to cruise that not having a bus to/from school isn't really an issue and I agree if it was, something would be done about it already, lol.
Our middle school has started that also so it is not much different than the "elite" schools you are speaking of but my dd doesn't have an "actual" resume right now but was told what she does starting from the 8th grade, counts towards college.
Sorry to hear that your children have so much homework. Maybe it is a high school thing but my dd is able to come home from school, have a snack and do her homework (on a day she does not stay later to do something at school be it sports, a club or being in the library) by 5pm.
At the school my children attend, kids are allowed to drive to school whenever they have a license.
Here, you can drive to school when you get your license.
