The Evolution of the Housewife

i think our culture should have a new, updated name for "housewife", not only is housewife not what my mom did a generation ago but it's also in the minority now when in my mother's generation it was the majority. i think stay at home parent/mom/dad applies but very, very rarely do i see that on surveys or applications that ask for occupation status.
