Dear old great Auntie has passed away at 97. She has left you and all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, $10,000. The instructions of the Will are that this money must be spent somewhat "frivolously". Not to pay off debt or save for the future. To buy or do something that is on your "before I die" list.

What would you do?

Go to the US, learn to drive, rent an RV and do a massive road trip from one end of the country to the other, visiting all the strange and wonderful people I have met on the net over the years. If possible I would lure dd along and have her make a documentary of the trip.

Use half the money to go visit DH's dad in Chile. Use the other half to either visit somewhere new (DH wants to go to India . . .) or to buy furniture/decorate a couple rooms in our new house.

I would go to West Meath Ireland and find my family roots then i'd go to Northern Italy and find the rest of my family. Two things I long to do and can say without a doubt i will never ever be able to afford.

First things first? I buy a Singer Featherweight sewing machine. I'd buy mine from Graham Forsdyke, who has a thriving refurbishment business in England, so that would be about $500.

With the rest, I would replace the cabinets and countertops in my kitchen.

It could actually make an excellent documentary I bet. Oh, and she would be thrilled with the singer.

I would love to do the 5 month hike through the Alps. My dad did it a few years ago, and it looks amazing. The hike itself would not cost much, but I imagine that 4 plane tickets would take up the bulk of it.
