Fathers have a choice

I was flipping through the channels this morning when I came across one of those baby shows. I think it was called Bringing home Baby or something like that. Anyway, the part that caught my attention was where they were changing the baby (actually she was doing the changing. He was just standing and watching) She then made the comment that he "doesn't do diapers". She then goes on to say her dad didn't either and try to come up with some reasons why some dad's don't do it and how they can't handle it, blah, blah, blah. The new dad then piped in that he couldn't stand the smell and he just doesn't do them. She then says...some dads do and some dads don't.

So I sat there and thought.....Why does dad get a *choice* in it at all? Why do they get to *opt out* of the diaper changing duties? What if the mom decided she couldn't stand the smell as well? Would the child then stay in a dirty diaper for the next two years until he is potty trained or until one of them broke own and changed the poor child? Why would a mom think that changing a diaper was an opional assignment for the dad?

Anyway....it's not really sah/woh. But I thought it a good debate topic.....Why do dads get the choice to *opt out* of parenting duties? And why would moms let them do it?

If you wish to continue thinking that, that is your purgative...because honestly I don't know how much more simple I can make it for you, really I don't.

I don't know...they hate what our country stands for and loves...some of what they hate about us, I'm not too happy about either.

Intolerance for religion other than Christian, the need to force our own ways on them, expanding our TV, our McDonald's, our Coca Cola all over the world...

I don tneed to comprehend what a stranger thinks. You stated what *you got*. What you got was not what I said. So keep insisting that you *got* it. I know better.

We dont have an intolerance for their religion. How many Muslims live in the United States? Not to mention how many Iraqi's VOTED in their last election...I believe the number was 11 million. Doesn't seem like forcing our way of life on anyone. The bottom line is when terrorism is breeding and growing and that spreads to the safety of other nations those terrorists MUST be dealt with. If you are going to harbor and breed terrorist expect use of force to stop that from flowing over into our country. Look at the mess Iran is in now. Other than Russia and China, (which China will step on board or starve)the entire world is staring them down. I will agree that the Middle East will alwyas be a mess, I don't know if we can ever get the radicals there to behave. But allowing terrorists acts to continue the world over isnt the answer either.

How many millions are in the ground at Saddams hands? Trust me I hate that innocent Iraqi's were killed it is horrible. No one wants that. I believe that every effort is made in Iraq to spare innocent life. The innocent have be murdered in the thousands at the hands of their own radicals. I believe the radicals have killed many more than US troops. I will have to research that.

Well now here is where I do take some issue with the President. However look at the bill for stem cell research. The loopholes are endless. Under the current bill women could get pregnant and abort the fetus for research. Basically abort for money. I agree that this is wrong and without these loopholes closed I agree with the President. You close the loopholes with this issue and I back the stem cell research 100%.

Wow. Last time I checked, "under god" is still in the pledge of allegience. And of course, that's the christian god. Christianity is EVERYWHERE here and there's a certain faction (many of whom are in power) who are determined to keep it very "in your face" and in the government.

It's easy to say that we are tolerant, but when our government mixes religion in with everything, it certainly becomes exclusatory.

How many Muslims live in this country and feel no fear and are never discriminated against? And not just Muslims...Jews, Pagans, Atheists...

What Janet said. There is a *huge* cost to war, and it is rarely worth it.

Ummm, by the time a woman knows she is pregnant it's too late to "abort the fetus for stem cell research". That so-called loophole is nonsense. To create stem cells, one needs to work with a blastocyst (usually between 50-150 cells in total). In other words, one has to work with a collection of cells that not only hasn't made it to the fetus stage yet, it hasn't even implanted in the uterus. Anything later than that is useless for stem cell research. The cells can only be created in the lab.

Under God is still in the Pledge because the majority of Americans want it to be. No one is forced to say Under God. Just like I am not forced to observe any holiday that I chose not to. My children go to school and learn about all sorts of religion. Too many people want to turn God into a bad thing. I don't know how many Muslims feel discriminated do you? I know as a christian there are times when I feel discriminated againest because things like Under God are being taught as a bad word to say. Sad really.
