Fathers have a choice

I was flipping through the channels this morning when I came across one of those baby shows. I think it was called Bringing home Baby or something like that. Anyway, the part that caught my attention was where they were changing the baby (actually she was doing the changing. He was just standing and watching) She then made the comment that he "doesn't do diapers". She then goes on to say her dad didn't either and try to come up with some reasons why some dad's don't do it and how they can't handle it, blah, blah, blah. The new dad then piped in that he couldn't stand the smell and he just doesn't do them. She then says...some dads do and some dads don't.
So I sat there and thought.....Why does dad get a *choice* in it at all? Why do they get to *opt out* of the diaper changing duties? What if the mom decided she couldn't stand the smell as well? Would the child then stay in a dirty diaper for the next two years until he is potty trained or until one of them broke own and changed the poor child? Why would a mom think that changing a diaper was an opional assignment for the dad?
Anyway....it's not really sah/woh. But I thought it a good debate topic.....Why do dads get the choice to *opt out* of parenting duties? And why would moms let them do it?

If we want to get the radicals over there to behave, as you say, then perhaps we should stop implejmenting and following policies that create more radicals.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Who is we? I worked for an airline during 9/11, and I experienced first hand the prejudice against Arabs and the Islam religion. I had passengers ask to switch flights, if they thought another passenger at the gate might be from the Middle East. Possibly, you don't see yourself as intolerant, but there are many intolerant/prejudice people here in America, to anyone other than those with Christian faiths.

Do you not see how this line of thinking only breeds more radicals? I personally don't feel any safer after 9/11. I think the radicals get even more recruits by the actions our government has taken. We are now viewed as invaders, and occupiers of their country. If we were only interested in the terrorist, why are we forcing our democracy on Iraqis? I don't believe we have stopped terrorist activity, we only elevated their hatred of us, because of their view of our invasion/occupation of Iraq.

Since when is God just a "Christian" God? Jews worship God. A lot of other faiths do too.
There is a LOT of intolerance for Christians too. Don't let the media and other people fool you. It is getting to the point where if you dare to mention Christ, you are flamed on message boards, made fun of, told to shut up, etc. People have fits about their freedom of speech, but forget that the Christian people have the same rights as they do.
My personal opinion is that I do not care how people worship, or what they worship or do not worship. I find all relgions to be fascinating. But, Christians are getting the short end of the stick in many places. In some parts of the world, they are murdered simply for believing.

I would love to know how someone would know that someone is a. from the Middle East, and b. how one would know that someone is Muslim. Other than a female wearing the garb I really don't know how you can tell someone is religion. Not to mention that isn't prejudice, that is plain and simple fear.

No we aren't. The media might want to think that. It isn't true. If we are forcing democracy why did 11 million Iraqi's vote? Doesn't sound like forcing to me.
