She begrudged me for working in part for better health insurance. She told me that health insurance is not as important to children than having mom at home, because if anything happened, you could always go to the ER, and they HAVE to treat you.

Yes, the emergency room has to treat you, but what if you need subsequent treatment once released?

You have GOt to be joking? Let me guess, she doesnt have any kids with medical problems? I do, and my kids life is worth more then being attached on my hip 24/7. And no, just b/c they have to treat you doesnt solve anything. You are still liable for meds, equipment, feeding tubes, insulin...etc...
