Full-time Nanny with SAHP - Why?

Something I've often wondered about, but never had the opportunity to ask. Why do SAHM or SAHD need a full time nanny, especially when they aren't working from home. I can easily see the need if the SAHP is a WAHP, but what is the logic for a full time nanny otherwise?

Any comments?

No, that's NOT the discussion.

It's not a double standard at all.

Our nanny's care is different and less preferred to a parent's care by the children.

That's a truly excellent question.

I don't need the money to feed and clothe them. If we want vacations, extra lessons, college paid for, I need to work.

Yes, it is IMO, if your children have to suffer large college loan debts for you to do that.

I have really struggled with the college funding. My personal belief is that kids should be able to pay for their own college rather than having it handed to them on a silver platter. Devin disagreed with me completely and we had some fights about it. I want my kids to have some sort of personal investment in their college planning whether it be paying for books or paying for boarding.

I have started college funds for the children since Devin died. I knew he would want it and I didn't want to squander the money people have generously given us. It might be enough to pay for them and it might not. I am not deeply concerned about it being fully funded. It is not a priority to me.

It is interesting, though, how different people have different priorities. One of yours is college and one of mine is health insurance. It makes life interesting.

Why is a college loan "suffering"?

But we argue all the time that because a parent works, it doesn't negate them as the primary caretaker of their children. Why is that not true if a parent volunteers?

No I'm not. No one is obligated to pay for their child's college education.
