Full-time Nanny with SAHP - Why?

Something I've often wondered about, but never had the opportunity to ask. Why do SAHM or SAHD need a full time nanny, especially when they aren't working from home. I can easily see the need if the SAHP is a WAHP, but what is the logic for a full time nanny otherwise?

Any comments?

I just compared where I currently live and work, to Minnesota (St. Paul/Minneapolis) and its both cheaper to live in St.Paul/Minneapolis, and, the salary's are lower.

"The cost of living in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN is 1.4% lower than in Sacramento, CA. Therefore, you would have to earn a salary of $147,939 to maintain your current standard of living. Employers in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN typically pay 10.3% less than employers in San Francisco, CA. Therefore, if you take the same type of job in the same type of company in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN you are likely to earn $134,575."

But we'd have to pay a nanny $15-17 per hour? Again, just strange.

Actually if more people had an attitude like P&J's, we wouldn't need so many volunteers. It's too bad not everyone wants to take full responsibility, including financial, for their own families. Kids learn responsibility when their parents have it. My parents and my in-laws sacrificed for our educations and futures, we intend to do the same for our children.

It's called taking care of your own.

My point is that my working and your volunteering are in no way equivalent.

Should my taxes go to student loans of children of full time volunteers?

You need to give back to the detriment of your children?

Oh, the lower middle class income parent has your permission to SLEEP? When COLLEGE ISN'T PAID FOR? Shouldn't she be getting a second or third job or stuffing envelopes at home or taking in children whose parents work the nightshift? Shouldn't she be doing EVERYTHING she can to make sure college is paid for? Wouldn't want lower-middle class income junior to HAVE TO TAKE OUT COLLEGE LOANS!

"Do you really believe it's more important to volunteer 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, than to either do paid work or SAH with your children?"

I never mentioned such an idea. I believe giving to the community is very important and that it should not be relegated to those who don't have children or those who have saved for college.

Well, here's hoping that your children learn about giving to the community while they are in college.
