I was reading the level of ed question. To be honest I did not read all the posts.

I noticed that we have alot of secondary educated women posting. My question is...I am trying to word this carefully...did your level of education introduce you to a DH with higher earning potential thus allowing your family to choose to live on one income?

I AM NOT saying that we all went to college to earn our MRS. I am just curious. I know the accomplishment potential of the men I dated prior to my education is different to those during/after.

Education didn't have anything to do with it for me. I got married at 18. My DH is 15 years older than me, so he was 33 at the time, and already had a good career in the military. He was perfectly able of providing for us financially, and me staying home. We have done very well financially, even with DH only having a 9th grade "education".

I met my husband while I was in college. He was a senior and I was a freshman. And I certainly didn't go to college to get my Mrs....I went to a women's college! ROTFLMAO! That said, the fact that he was already well established in his career when we married and had DS did allow us to live on just his income, so my answer to your question would have be yes.

Good question! C

I have a masters; neither my first nor my present husband have a college degree, although my dh does have an associates degree.

I have never been attracted to earning potential; in fact, I ran like the dickens from the finanace/business/professional types. I wanted someone who would direct the majority of their energies somewhere besides building a career.

I always ended up with the artists and academics. After years of misery, I finally realized what I wanted was a "regular guy", and I've been happy ever since, lol.

Stbxh adn I were hs sweethearts, so no. However, my personal belief on the importance of education probably would steer me away from a man without a college education. But things change ....

Nope! I am a SAHM with a Bachelor's Degree. I met DH while I was in college, but through friends outside of school. My DH had previously attended a tiny bit of college, no degree. Worked odd jobs for years during a rough period and had very low earning potential at the time I met him. An accident at work entitled him to vocational rehabilitation since he was no longer physically able to work in any field he was experienced in. He chose computers, and does quite well now. We both want me to be a SAHM mom, and so I am! :)
